More than 3,000 Homes Sold Last Month in San Antonio and Surrounding Areas, Showing 27% Increase


November home sales showed a 27 percent increase with 3,125 homes sold in the month. There were 6,197 active listings and 3,092 new listings during the month in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Year-to-date, the housing market in the San Antonio area has shown a 10 percent increase in sales from 2019, with 34,958 homes sold in the city throughout the year. All data was provided by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR) which reports on all areas contained within the MLS.


“As we look to the finale of the year, the housing market is one of the things that has remained steady and strong in 2020,” said Kim Bragman, SABOR's 2020 Chairman of the Board. "Our home sales are up by 10 percent in the city, year-to-date, and overall, in the state of Texas, 335,836 homes have been sold. Our state, and specifically San Antonio, is definitely a great place to live, and the numbers show it."


The average price of homes sold in November was $311,604. This is slightly higher than the average price of homes sold throughout the year, which currently sits at $291,638 year-to-date. Homes have been listed for an average of 49 days on the market before selling, an 18 decrease from November 2019.


In a county comparison, Bexar County's increase in home sales showed a 22.4 percent increase (2,249 homes) compared to Travis County's 23 percent increase (1,423 homes), Harris County's 20.3 percent increase (4,102 homes), and Dallas County's 18.2 percent increase (1,771 homes). The percentage increase is year over year from last November to November 2020. Across the state, there are 27,728 pending sales moving into the month of December.
